However once past this it was an excellent read more in the manner of bygone M&B's but with sexual content added.
Mrs Wilkinson always writes an entertaining story and I particularly like the theme, as in this, of "old lovers re-united" set mostly in the sunny climes of the Californian wine district.
I felt that the "conflicts" could have favoured Perdita a tad more but it didn't spoil the enjoyment.
But for the opening this would have rated 5 stars but it is still a worthy 4.
