What was he saying? He’d dodged his attraction to Adam’s little sister for years, then her sweet body had swayed against his during the dance at the wedding last night, and now he’d decided to invite her to share the secluded beach house? What the hell was he thinking?
And how had this mix-up even happened?
“I don’t want to bother Adam on his honeymoon,” Alisha murmured.
“There’s no need,” Tyler stated. “I already gave you the solution. I just got here this morning, so pick whatever room you want.”
Her eyes narrowed. “You expect me to share this house with you and whatever woman you brought?”
Of course she thought he’d brought someone. She’d always thought of him as a player, and he’d never corrected her. Little did she know he’d dated so many women in an attempt to find someone who intrigued him the way Alisha did.
He’d yet to find her.
“I didn’t bring another woman,” he informed her. “I’m here to relax, just like you are.”
Alisha pursed her pale pink lips. He didn’t want to give her too much time to roll this idea through her head. She’d been working hard on her charity organization, Home Sweeter Home. Adam always beamed with pride when discussing his sister’s work for the children back in their hometown of Benton Springs, Kentucky.
“We’ve both been working hard.” Tyler crossed the foyer and gripped the handle of her suitcase. “Not to mention, we’ve traveled all this way, so we’re just going to make the best of the situation. Deal?”
Her bright eyes met his, and the fact they were isolated and alone hit him hard. But he had to hold tight to that self-control. He couldn’t risk his friendship with Adam by making a move on his little sister. She’d never shown interest, and she’d admitted more than once that she didn’t approve of Tyler’s lifestyle.
“I guess it would be silly to go back to Kentucky,” she admitted. “It’s not like you’re a stranger. I guess I just wanted peace and quiet for a few days before heading back and gearing up for the charity ball.”
“I’ll try to keep my bongo drums away from you, then.”
Alisha’s laugh filled the entryway and stirred a desire in him that shouldn’t even exist. Damn it.
“Which bedroom do you want?” he asked. “I’ll take your stuff there.”
“Oh, I can get it.”
“Lish, let me take your bag.”
She stared at him another moment before nodding. “Fine. I’ll take any of the rooms upstairs that have the walkout onto the balcony overlooking the ocean.”
He’d also taken one of those rooms, but now wasn’t the time to let her in on that. No matter where she ended up, he had to be on his absolute best behavior…and try not to think about how amazing Alisha would look in whatever bathing suit she’d packed—or how there would only be one wall separating them.
No, he’d have to think about his decades-long friendship with Adam and ignore his desire for his best friend’s little sister.
