“Your charity is really remarkable.”
Alisha took the last sip of her refreshing drink and set the glass on the table between her and Tyler. She was having a difficult time concentrating on a normal friendly conversation with all that excellent muscle tone glistening in the sunlight. She’d never fully examined her brother’s best friend so thoroughly before, but damn. She wanted another drink because it was so hot, but she needed to stay in her right mind. The last thing she needed was a drunken fling.
“I’m pretty proud of the work I’ve accomplished,” she told him. “It’s all about reaching the children where they are.”
“Do you want kids one day?”
Alisha’s focus shifted to his eyes, and she found him staring right back at her. Nerves curled low in her belly, and an instant image flashed through her mind of having his child, which was absolutely absurd. She’d already scolded herself for finding him attractive. He was a player and definitely not husband or father material. Besides that, what would Adam think with his sister and best friend hooking up? The whole idea was laughable.
“I’d love a big family.” Alisha shifted in her chair to sit more on her hip so she could face him. “But I’m so busy right now, not to mention I’m not even seeing anyone.”
“Is that right?”
Why did his tone sound sultry—and too damn enticing?
“What about you?” she asked, needing to stay in control of this conversation…and her hormones. “Do you want kids, or is that too difficult with all your traveling?”
“The owner of the company can work from anywhere,” he told her. “I just like to keep my hand in the operations.”
“Speaking of being handsy,” she started. “How many ladies do you have waiting for you back home?”
“Why do you always think I’ve got a harem?”
Alisha shrugged. “Because I’ve never seen you without a woman or at least talking about one.”
Tyler sat up and swung his legs over the side of the chair, putting him even closer to her as those dark eyes held hers. Those broad shoulders and that well-defined chest just begged for attention. She wanted to reach out, to see if he was just as hard and chiseled as he appeared.
That control she so desperately needed to hold on to was slipping.
“Do you see me with a woman now?”
“Just me.”
His eyes traveled over her body, then back up to meet her gaze. “Exactly.”
There was no mistaking that heavy-lidded stare for anything other than desire—aimed at her. Was that because he was attracted to her or because she was the only woman here? She wasn’t about to be another proverbial notch in his bedpost, but how could she ignore that tug of arousal? She’d never felt anything this strong, this intense before.
“Are you flirting with me?” she asked.
A corner of his mouth kicked up in a sexy smile. “I am, and you love it.”
Damn it. He was right. She did love it.
