Janelle padded out to the living room and found Silas on the balcony staring out at an impressive view of Atlanta. He was in jeans and a dark button-down shirt.
“Hey,” he welcomed her into the safety of his arms, and she kissed him slow and deep. “Don’t get something started we can’t finish.” He patted her bottom playfully.
"I agree. I was actually hoping you could drive me to my modeling agency. I need to have a few words with my agent.”
“Are you sure you’re ready to do that?”
“No time like the present. He can’t get away with what he’s done.”
“But you don’t have a new agent yet.”
“If you believe Women’s Wear Daily, I’m one of the top models in the world in terms of bookings and income. I won’t need to look too hard. Once word gets out that I’ve fired Brad, they will come to me.”
“All right, let’s go.”
A few minutes later, they were back in his Ferrari 812 and on their way to her agency in downtown Atlanta. They met with the typical traffic and arrived a half hour later. As Silas and Janelle took the elevator to the twentieth floor, she remembered how exciting it had been the first time she’d come to this office. But as she walked down the corridor to the entrance, all she felt now was anger. Anger at her agent and at herself for allowing herself to be duped.
The receptionist fawned all over Janelle when she realized it was the supermodel in the flesh.
“I’d like to see Brad Turner, please,” Janelle said, reining in her impatience.
“Yes, of course. I’ll let him know you’re here.”
“Please do.” Janelle began pacing back and forth on the ceramic-tiled floor.
